FAQ Forward Curve Creator ยป

The product can be used to create forward hourly price curves for any electricity market for which forward product prices (base-load and peak-load) and historical hourly prices are published, or can be calculated or defined in any other way.

Markets like Germany (EEX), France (Powernext), the Netherlands (APX and Endex) with exchange published futures and hourly prices are ideal for using the Forward Curve Creator. But of course it can be used for other markets as well, as long as you have the data set of forward product prices (e.g. yearly base-load and peak-load).

For markets with no electricity exchange, historical hourly prices can be derived in different ways. Like for instance from neighboring markets and cross-border capacity prices. Alternatively hourly prices from markets with similar characteristics can simply be used to model hourly price curve shapes on specific characteristic days.

In this way forward hourly price curves for practically all European electricity markets can be modeled.
